Fake Marriage – What would you do?

I have a friend who got married around 3 years ago. She and her “husband” are both in their early 30s - she is from Chicago and he is from Nigeria.

She recently found out that not only did he already have a wife at home but also children. The money that they had been sending home to his mother was really going to his family.

At first she was livid and threatening to have him prosecuted for bigamy. Now, she’s on some whole other vibe saying that he really only loves her, and his first marriage would not be legally recognized in the U.S. I know she’s embarrassed and trying to do damage control now because the first thing people say when someone from another country is interested in you is that they only want you for citizenship.

Oh, I almost forgot to add that they have a 6 month old son.

What would you do?

I'm not altogether sure having the wife and children there is going to help her embarrassment lol. It seems to veer away from her plan of pretending the situation doesn't exist.

Seriously, how would that work? I have another friend who moved to Toronto (she and her husband) because it was easier to bring his parents and sister there. I cannot remember what country he was from but it was Middle Eastern.

I would seek a divorce. Raise him on my own then marry a man from Indonesia, move there with my son and give birth to a daughter. Then I would move to Hawaii.
